This year is my third celebrating being a mom, and I can say that while my boys and husband make me feel loved and appreciated year-round, having a day that is all about moms is pretty sweet. As a mom of twins, I can say that my type of motherhood is different in the sense that starting out with 2 children at once when I became a parent meant throwing out the rulebook in terms of how to do things for newborns.
When I’m out with Nate and Landon, women stop me all the time and they ask “How do you do it?” And I say the same thing: “I just do.” I make it work (and whatever “it” is for the day varies), but I don’t know any other way. I’m a mom to twins and that’s all I know.
But back to Mother’s Day. Yes, I am a little excited that it’s all about me on May 14. And I love getting cards from the boys that I save. My family is so sweet to me, and ends up giving me a gift that fits my mom style… and I’m not talking about clothes. They get me… and I think a gift for Mother’s Day should be just that – something that she wants and deserves.
Whether your mom loves to take selfies, is a fashionista, depends on wine to get her through those rough days, or doesn’t take enough time for herself since she puts you and the family first, I’ve picked some fun items that you shop for her… that she’ll want.
Or just let the woman sleep (with help from the adorable eye mask I found on Etsy). Trust me, ALL moms want more sleep.
For the Mom who puts everyone else first
It doesn’t get any easier than getting mom a box full of goodies, and a Birchbox subscription for the year ($110) is perfect for the mom who can’t always get out of the house and pamper herself. It’ll arrive right on her doorstep. Easy peasy. And Lush also has awesome gift boxes filled with sweet-smelling bath goodies.
For the Mom who is practically a professional photographer
If she’s like me, and takes a lot of photos, I think she’ll love the HP Sprocket Photo Printer. It’s compact, and she can carry it with her and print out photos anytime. This is also a good gift for a grandmother who loves to scrapbook.
For the Mom who makes wearing a t-shirt look stylish
I am a big fan of funny t-shirts that I can wear with my jeans and Converse. There are so many funny slogan tees that fit each mother’s personality, but Saturday Morning Pancakes’ “I’m Ride Of Die” Tee speaks to my sense of humor, with the LB Brand’s “Mother” tee says it plain and simple in retro style. Plus, I already have the Snash Jewelry “Mama” Ring and I adore it.
